Lead buying glossary
The terms debt relief lead buyers use, in plain English — each linked to the page that covers it.
- Exclusive lead
- A lead sold to exactly one buyer. No other buyer receives the consumer's details.
- Shared lead
- A real-time lead sold to a small number of buyers — capped at three on DebtReliefLeadsCo — at a lower price per lead.
- Aged lead
- A lead older than 24 hours, sold in bulk at a steep discount from the aged marketplace.
- Live transfer
- A pre-qualified consumer connected to the buyer by phone in real time, billed per qualified call.
- CPL (cost per lead)
- The price paid for a single lead. On this marketplace, $15–$95 for real-time leads depending on debt band and exclusivity.
- CPA (cost per acquisition)
- Total lead spend divided by the number of new customers it produces — the metric that actually measures lead quality.
- Cost per enrollment
- Lead spend divided by enrolled clients; the debt relief equivalent of CPA.
- Enrolled debt
- The total unsecured debt a consumer places into a debt settlement program at enrollment.
- Debt band
- A range of total unsecured debt (e.g. $20k–$35k) used for pricing and filtering leads.
- DMP (debt management plan)
- A structured repayment plan administered by a credit counseling agency, typically with reduced interest rates.
- TSR (Telemarketing Sales Rule)
- The FTC rule governing telemarketing, including the ban on advance fees for debt relief services.
- TCPA
- The Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which requires prior express written consent for marketing calls and texts to cell phones.
- One-to-one consent
- Consent language that names the specific seller(s) who may contact the consumer, rather than a blanket list of partners.
- TrustedForm
- A third-party certificate service that independently records a consumer's consent on a web form.
- Jornaya LeadiD
- A third-party lead certification service that witnesses the consumer's form session and issues a certificate ID.
- Consent record
- The stored proof of a consumer's consent: timestamp, IP, user agent, page URL, exact consent text and certificate ID.
- Ping-post
- A lead-selling flow where partial lead data is 'pinged' to buyers for a bid before full contact details are 'posted' to the winner.
- Return window
- The period after purchase during which a lead can be returned for credit — 72 hours on DebtReliefLeadsCo.
- De-dupe
- Removing duplicate leads by phone and email so a buyer never receives the same consumer twice within the window (30 days here).
- Return rate
- The share of purchased leads a buyer returns, tracked per buyer and per lead source.
- Prepaid wallet
- The balance buyers fund in advance; leads are debited from it only when delivered.
- Auto-recharge
- An automatic wallet top-up that fires when the balance drops below a chosen threshold, so campaigns never pause.
- Daily cap
- A campaign limit on how many leads — or how many dollars — a buyer will take per day.
- Delivery hours
- The days and hours, in the buyer's time zone, during which leads are delivered to a campaign.
- Max price (bid)
- The highest price a buyer will pay per lead; in highest-bid categories, higher bids win routing priority.
- Round robin
- A routing mode that distributes leads evenly across eligible buyers in turn.
- Highest bid
- A routing mode where the eligible buyer with the highest max price wins the lead.
- First come
- A routing mode where the first eligible buyer in queue receives the lead.
- Restricted state
- A state where a lead category is not sold, flagged in campaign filters and enforced at routing.
- DNC scrub
- Checking a phone number against Do Not Call registries before it is sold or dialed.
- Unsecured debt
- Debt not backed by collateral — credit cards, personal loans, medical bills, collections.
- MCA (merchant cash advance)
- A business financing product repaid from future sales; MCA relief leads are business owners struggling with these advances.
- Debt settlement
- Negotiating with creditors to accept less than the full balance, typically over a 24–48 month program.
- Debt consolidation loan
- A single loan used to pay off multiple debts, leaving one monthly payment.
- Cash-out refinance
- Replacing a mortgage with a larger one and using the difference to pay off debt — an option for homeowners with equity.
- HELOC
- A home equity line of credit; another way homeowners with equity can consolidate unsecured debt.
- Tax resolution
- Services that resolve IRS or state tax debt through payment plans, offers in compromise or penalty relief.
- Webhook delivery
- Sending each purchased lead to the buyer's system as an HTTP POST with a JSON payload, in real time.
- Bulk discount
- A percentage discount on aged leads at volume thresholds — 10% at 100+, 20% at 500+, 30% at 2,000+.
- Never-sold premium
- A 25% surcharge on aged leads that have never been sold to any buyer.
